PROJECTS
Beach Monitoring
Beach monitoring is a major on going project for the group. Our objectives are to:
• Develop an understanding of sand movement.
• Provide a bench mark of sand movement to assess any implemented remedial strategies.
Community Coastal Hazards Survey
The Port Fairy Coastal Group – Coastal Hazard Community Exhibition highlighted future threats to Port Fairy’s coast.
Locals and visitors were then surveyed on how they use and value the coast and which areas should be protected into the future.
This information will help guide local and state governments in tackling the challenges of sea level rise and erosion.
The Coastal Hazard Community Exhibition was been funded by the Department of Environment and Primary Industries and supported by Moyne Shire.

Year 6 School Science Project
Local school students have joined the
Port Fairy Coastal Group to help monitor local beaches and pass the data onto the Moyne Shire Council.
