Beach Monitoring Reports
Semptember 2014 Report

Date: 7 September 2014

Monitoring Team: Mark, Nick & Shawn

Analysis & Report: David Bills-Thompson, PFCG Technical Officer and Data Co-ordinator

Commentary: A shortened version of beach measurements were made as there was no transport available for the laser level and no profile measurements were made; only sand height and photographs at all posts and dune toe distances at the relevant  posts.

The last month has shown a more positive gain in sand height with only two posts showing a loss, however the overall sand height for nine of the posts is below the height recorded when measurements were commenced. Note there are three different start dates for monitoring depending on the post number.

The Dune Toe readings continue to show stability at post 8 (Behind the WEDs) while 'normal' toe activity is evident at the other posts. Post 8 has continued a relatively small loss of sand height between 80 - 90 mm per month compared to monthly losses ranging between 94 and 330 mm. Post 8 also benefited from large gains in sand height and is currently fourth lowest in height. Posts 2, 5 and 7 have lower sand levels than post 8.
